Natural Intelligence (NI) Self-Certification is a way for organisations to clearly state their strong resistance to Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. It is offered as a formal announcement of our rejection of AI, which we see as one of the most dehumanising and socially harmful inventions by a small group of tech-utopianists; a technology that wrests the power of self-determination and autonomy away from ‘people’ and ‘society’ and places it firmly in the unassailable domain of technocracy.
NI aspires to be a vigorous response to the seminal inquiry: If the answer is AI, what was the question? We surmise that ‘the question’ was: “if can we perform the greatest act of hubris in human history, and invent an unrivalled technology to dominate human society and obliterate the very idea of human agency, human intellect, and degrade the evolutionary natural intelligence embedded in the very fabric of all life – then what would such a technology be”.
